Celebrated announcer Bill Stern shared the sports news and many tall tales with radio listeners for almost 20 years. Stern, who was the commentator for both the first radio broadcast of a professional baseball game and for the first sporting event ever broadcast on television, was rated the best national commentator by the Radio Daily Magazine for 13 years in a row. Each week, Stern would have a different guest on his show and sports figures including Ty Cobb, Jack Dempsy, Joe DiMaggio, Jesse Owens, and Babe Ruth would come to talk with him. Other kinds of celebrities, like Lucille Ball, Milton Berle, Lena Horne, Henny Youngman and Cab Calloway, would stop by as well. A few stars, like Frank Sinatra, would even fill in for Stern on occasion and tell their own improbable stories. Originally Performed on 05/19/1950
